Avient introduces a liquid, non-PFAS process aid with antioxidants in Latin America, supporting safer, high-performance polymer processing and sustainability goals.
Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions announced the launch of its Hiformer™ Non-PFAS Process Aid with Antioxidants (AO) in Latin America. This liquid process aid gives regional film packaging producers access to a non-fluorinated option without intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), while extending Avient’s established non-PFAS process aid technology and adding antioxidant functionality for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) processing.
The Hiformer Non-PFAS Process Aid AO series is a liquid additive product for PP and PE applications created to help reduce friction between the polymer and metal. This can result in easier extrusion to reduce melt fracture as well as die build-up, and lower torque to support higher throughput. The liquid format allows typical loading dosage rates of 0.1-0.5%.
This additive is available for both non-food and food contact applications, with relevant FDA compliance for food film applications. By incorporating antioxidants into the process aid package, the AO series offers film manufacturers an additional option for addressing processing and performance needs within a single additive solution.
The introduction of this Hiformer Non-PFAS Process Aid with Antioxidants responds to growing customer demand for non-PFAS solutions amid ongoing changes in government regulations surrounding certain PFAS substances. Avient’s solution can meet applicable regulatory requirements while maintaining performance characteristics comparable to those of traditional fluoropolymer-based solutions.
The AO series extends Avient’s non-PFAS process aid portfolio, which already includes Hiformer Non-PFAS PPA offerings in Asia and parts of Europe and Cesa™ solid process aids in the U.S, reflecting the company’s ability to translate and adapt technology across regions while remaining committed to providing sustainable materials solutions.
