Plastic manufacturers launch an Indian subsidiary to tap rising demand for recycled content and strengthen their presence in the growing market.
Plastic recycling technology providers Erema and Lindner Washtech have strengthened their footprint in India with the launch of a new joint subsidiary, Erema India. The move is aimed at addressing rising demand for advanced recycling solutions as India prepares to implement a mandatory 60% recycled plastic content requirement for packaging by 2029.
The newly established sales and service entity will enable quicker access to high-end mechanical recycling technologies, while offering localized technical support to Indian recyclers. According to the companies, regulatory momentum and rising quality standards are making India a strategically important growth market for plastics recycling.
Christoph Wöss, Global Sales Director at Erema Group, said India’s rapid market development mirrors trends already seen in bottle-to-bottle recycling, where implementation has accelerated following regulatory clarity. He noted that upcoming recycled content mandates across all plastic packaging categories present significant opportunities, particularly in post-consumer recycling.
Erema and Lindner Washtech expect a growing number of bottle-to-bottle recycling installations in India by 2026, driven by increased demand for food-grade recycled materials. Manfred Hackl, CEO of Erema Group, described India as one of the fastest-growing recycling markets globally, highlighting the importance of combining local presence with integrated system expertise.
Operating from Vadodara and Mumbai, Erema India will support recyclers with washing, extrusion, and thermal decontamination technologies. The companies’ coordinated process chains are designed to help recyclers meet stringent quality benchmarks, including international food-contact standards.
Local service teams will provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and after-sales support. Ganesh Karankal, Sales Director for the washing business unit at Erema India, said the subsidiary aims to help position India as a global hub for high-quality recyclates and closed-loop recycling solutions.
For polyolefins such as HDPE, LDPE, and PP, the integrated systems are designed to handle complex post-consumer waste streams. Maharshi Mehta, Sales Director for the extrusion business unit, added that Erema’s Intarema extrusion technology, combined with the ReFresher module, enables effective odour removal and consistent production of high-quality recycled output.
Erema India will also offer ReadyMac and ReadyWash solutions, providing standardized, fast-delivery systems for customers seeking cost-effective recycling technology.
