Versatilefilms for modern industries

Platilon® polyurethane films represent a wide range of polymer compositions with outstanding mechanical, chemical and thermal properties.

Recognized for their mechanical strength and exceptional flexibility and elasticity across a wide temperature range, they are also heat-, puncture- and abrasion-resistant.

Platilon® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Films are versatile high-performance materials with a unique combination of properties used across various industries. In the medical field, TPU Films are used in wound dressings due to their biocompatibility and flexibility.

The automotive industry employs them in interior trim and lumbar support, while they are also used in bullet-proof vests, waterproof apparel and as adhesive layers in laminates.

Numerous forms of processing are possible, from gluing, lamination and welding, to thermoforming and back-foaming. Our multilayer capability allows different technologies and properties to be combined in a single Platilon® Film.

Multiple features, like surface finishes, colors, different liners, and TPU chemistries can be brought together simultaneously to deliver a tailored solution. If an existing film doesn’t meet our customer’s needs, we offer a fast and efficient process to create a customized solution suited to specific requirements.

Covestro is driving the development of our customized TPU films with sustainability in mind. Our efforts in this regard include waste reduction, the use of bio-based instead of fossil-fuel-based raw materials and pursuing a mass-balancing approach.
