Verde® Announces New Biobased, Biodegradable PolyEarthylene® Film Grades

Expands PolyEarthylene® Resin Product Line to Include Extrusion Coatings, Shrink Film, Stretch Film and Durable Film in Addition to its Current Blown Film and Cast Film Product Line

Verde® Bioresins, a leader in sustainable polymer innovation, has announced the expansion of its PolyEarthylene® film line—an eco-conscious, commercially available resin offering a high-performance alternative to petroleum-based plastics. With a strong focus on environmental responsibility and industrial scalability, PolyEarthylene® is now competitively positioned for full-scale production across a variety of applications.

Developed to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging, PolyEarthylene® resins are plant-based, landfill biodegradable, and recyclable. These FDA-approved materials meet Title 21 Food Contact Compliance standards and are certified free from PFAS (“forever chemicals”), BPA, phthalates, and heavy metals, making them Prop 65 compliant and non-toxic.

“Verde continues to make inroads into the plastics industry through product innovation and development of its PolyEarthylene® resin offerings that permit businesses to pivot from conventional plastic use,” said Joseph Paolucci, CEO of Verde. “Only 5-6% of plastics are ever recycled in the US, with 85% ending up in landfills. We believe our US-manufactured PolyEarthylene® provides an environmentally friendly alternative that can reset the plastics industry.”

Designed for compatibility with existing plastic manufacturing infrastructure, PolyEarthylene® resins boast similar cycle times and recyclability to traditional polyolefins. The resins are shelf-stable and suitable for a wide array of uses, with commercial products already in market, including:

  • Shrink Film – Used in packaging for bottled water, juice, and soda in 12, 24, or 36-pack formats.

  • Durable Film – Ideal for ice bags, shipping envelopes, and other high-strength packaging needs.

  • Extrusion Coating – Provides effective moisture and oxygen barriers on items like paper coffee cups, plates, air pillows, and food overwraps.

  • Stretch Film – Developed for pallet wrap applications, currently undergoing testing with major North American retailers.

  • Blown and Cast Film Grades – Available for a broad range of commercial uses.

Verde’s efforts align with a growing push from global brands to find economically viable and scalable ways to meet sustainability goals without compromising product quality or performance.

As the demand for sustainable materials continues to grow, Verde’s PolyEarthylene® line is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of packaging and manufacturing—offering companies a real path forward in reducing their environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.
