GPCA Supports Strategic Planning Discussions at NCPC Riyadh Workshop

Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association supports strategic planning talks at the National Center for Privatization & PPP workshop in Riyadh.

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), the voice of the chemical industry in the Arabian Gulf, helped shape the strategic priorities of the National Committee for Plastic Circularity (NCPC) at NCPC’s recent workshop on 29 January at the Federation of Saudi Chambers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Eng. Mater Aldhafeeri, Secretary General, GPCA, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the critical role of industry leadership and cross‑sector collaboration in advancing sustainability and circularity.

The workshop brought together senior executives and key stakeholders from across the packaging value chain to define NCPC’s strategic objectives, agree on priority working streams, and strengthen alignment with Saudi Arabia’s national sustainability ambitions and Vision 2030.

Khalid Alshiha, Strategy & Investments Senior Specialist, Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Saudi Arabia, provided valuable insights into the evolving regulatory landscape, waste management frameworks, and national priorities guiding Saudi Arabia’s transition toward circularity.

Adding an industry and economic perspective, André Sleiman, Director, Roland Berger Middle East, shared an in‑depth analysis of the practical and economic enablers required for effective implementation.

GPCA’s participation in the workshop reflects its continued commitment to supporting regional circularity efforts, catalyzing industry collaboration, and advancing policies that enable a more sustainable, innovative, and resilient plastics sector in the GCC. We remain committed to working closely with the NCPC and advancing these priorities in close partnership.
