Budget expectations: MP industries look for integrated parks, skilling & faster subsidies

Industries in Madhya Pradesh expect the Budget to focus on integrated industrial parks, workforce skilling, and faster subsidy disbursement.

With the Union Budget 2026–27 set to be tabled in Parliament on Sunday, industries across Madhya Pradesh — including footwear, confectionery, automobile components, mattresses, plastics and manufacturing — are pinning hopes on policy measures to enhance competitiveness, expand industrial infrastructure and support employment generation.

A key expectation from the Budget is the development of integrated industrial parks in the state, offering common facilities, strong logistics connectivity and plug-and-play infrastructure to reduce project costs and accelerate new investments.

Rajeev Agrawal, a mattress manufacturer based in Mandideep near Bhopal, said industries are looking for an expansion of production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes and a stronger manufacturing push. “Increasing the ambit of PLI, developing more integrated industrial parks in Madhya Pradesh and simplifying taxation for small industries would help manufacturers scale operations and attract fresh investments,” he said.

Industry associations also highlighted the need for higher allocation towards skill development, particularly for labour-intensive sectors such as footwear, food processing and auto components, which continue to face a shortage of trained manpower.

Girish Punjabi, president of the Indore Footwear Manufacturers Association, said the widening skill gap is impacting local competitiveness. He stressed the need for easier access to training programmes to help industries meet global standards.

Concerns were also raised over delays in subsidy disbursals.

Parag Kheir, a plastic mould manufacturer supplying to the pharmaceutical industry, said delayed subsidy releases block working capital and disrupt cash flows. “A time-bound mechanism for SME subsidy disbursal should be followed strictly,” he said.

Food manufacturers flagged sector-specific challenges as well.

Dinesh Choudhary, president of the Indore Confectionery Manufacturers Association, said the sector is seeking Budget support for technology upgradation, modern packaging facilities and simplified compliance to meet food safety standards amid rising input costs.

Ramesh Vyas, a plastic manufacturing industrialist from Gwalior, said MSMEs need stronger hand-holding to grow sustainably. “Emerging industrial clusters should receive faster approvals, improved infrastructure and easier access to institutional finance to maintain growth momentum,” he said.

Industry bodies said a Budget focused on integrated industrial parks, skilling, simplified taxation and timely subsidy disbursal could significantly strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s manufacturing ecosystem in the coming financial year.
