Vegetable soup range transitions to fibre-based Pure-Pak cartons, reducing plastic use while improving recyclability, shelf impact, and logistics efficiency.
Florette has relaunched its range of chilled vegetable soups by replacing PET plastic bottles with Pure-Pak® Sense fibre-based cartons, marking a significant step in its sustainable packaging strategy. The transition is designed to reduce plastic consumption, improve recyclability, and support the company’s long-term environmental goals while maintaining product quality and freshness.
The new packaging uses Elopak’s Pure-Pak® Sense cartons, offering a renewable, paper-based alternative to conventional plastic bottles. In addition to reducing the use of plastic, the cartons provide better protection against light, helping preserve the quality and shelf life of the vegetable soups.
Florette’s redesigned soup range is being rolled out across France and includes several popular varieties packaged in 1-litre cartons. The refreshed packaging also features a larger printable surface, enhancing shelf visibility and allowing stronger brand communication in retail stores.
Beyond sustainability, the carton format offers operational benefits throughout the supply chain. Its square shape improves pallet utilisation, storage efficiency, and transportation by allowing more products to be packed into available space compared with round plastic bottles. These efficiencies can help reduce logistics costs and lower transport-related emissions.
The packaging change supports Florette’s broader climate strategy, which includes a target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2035 compared with 2019 levels. By shifting to renewable carton packaging, the company aims to minimise the environmental footprint of its products while responding to growing consumer demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
Florette’s move reflects a wider trend across the food and beverage industry, where brands are increasingly replacing rigid plastic packaging with fibre-based alternatives to meet sustainability commitments and evolving regulatory expectations. The relaunch demonstrates how innovative carton packaging can combine product protection, operational efficiency, and environmental performance, supporting the industry’s transition towards a more circular packaging economy.
