Cosmo Films has introduced a new high tear-resistant polypropylene (PP) synthetic paper sheet, expanding its specialty film portfolio for durable tags and identification labels.
The new product is designed to deliver enhanced tear resistance, superior printability, and excellent dimensional stability while retaining the look and feel of conventional paper.
The High Tear Resistant Flexo/Thermal Transfer Printable – Both Side Coated synthetic paper is manufactured using co-extruded PP sheet film with a matte-coated finish on both sides. This dual-side coating enables high-quality printing on either surface, making it suitable for applications where traditional paper is prone to tearing during handling and repeated use.
The synthetic paper is compatible with multiple printing technologies, including UV Offset, water-based Flexo, UV Flexo, and Thermal Transfer printing. It can also be die-punched and precision perforated, providing converters and brand owners with greater flexibility for customised tag and label production.
Kulbhushan Malik, Global Business Head at Cosmo Films, said the growing demand for synthetic paper reflects the need for materials that combine the visual appeal of paper with the durability of plastic. He noted that the new product addresses applications where tear resistance, print performance, and dimensional stability are essential, while its dual-side printability further enhances versatility across demanding identification applications.
The PP-based synthetic paper is available in 125, 150, 200, and 250 micron thicknesses in reel form with widths of up to 1,550 mm. It is also FDA-approved, making it suitable for applications requiring compliance with material safety and food-contact standards.
Cosmo Films said the product is ideal for garment hang tags, tree tags, airport transfer tags, horticulture identification tags, cattle identification tags, and other labels exposed to frequent handling and a high risk of tearing.
