The extended partnership with the FIA and ACO will support Michelin’s continued tyre development and sustainability work in the World Endurance Championship’s top category.
Michelin has been selected by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) as the exclusive tyre supplier for the Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) through the end of the 2032 season. The agreement extends Michelin’s involvement in the championship’s premier class and provides a long-term platform for tyre technology development.
Michelin has supplied the WEC Hypercar category with dedicated racing tyres and has used endurance competition as a development environment for technologies focused on performance, durability and efficiency. The company’s current Pilot Sport Endurance range includes slick compounds and a wet-weather tyre designed for different track conditions.
The partnership also supports Michelin’s focus on increasing the use of renewable and recycled materials in racing tyres. The company says its current WEC Hypercar tyres contain 50% renewable and recycled materials, reflecting its broader sustainability strategy and efforts to transfer lessons from motorsport development into wider tyre technology.
Michelin’s 2026 Hypercar tyre programme includes the Pilot Sport Endurance range, developed with an emphasis on performance, longevity and environmental considerations. The tyres are being used by manufacturers competing in the championship’s headlining category, providing Michelin with a demanding environment for evaluating materials, construction and tyre behaviour under endurance-racing conditions.
The extended agreement also gives Michelin an opportunity to continue working with the FIA, ACO and Hypercar manufacturers on future tyre technologies. Endurance racing places significant demands on tyres, requiring consistent performance over long distances while managing temperature, degradation and changing track conditions.
