VMI Group Opens New Service Facility in León, Mexico

The new facility strengthens local technical support, maintenance and training services for Mexico’s tyre and rubber manufacturing industry.

Dutch industrial machinery manufacturer VMI Group has officially opened a new service facility in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, expanding its local presence and strengthening support for customers in the country’s tyre and rubber manufacturing sectors. The facility was inaugurated on October 8, 2026, as part of the company’s efforts to improve service access and respond more efficiently to customer requirements.

The new site covers approximately 1,000 square metres and is designed to provide technical assistance, equipment maintenance, customer training and specialised service support. By establishing these capabilities closer to its customers, VMI aims to help manufacturers maintain equipment performance, reduce service response times and improve production efficiency.

VMI develops machinery and automated systems for industrial manufacturing, including equipment used in tyre production and rubber processing. Its technologies serve manufacturers that require reliable machinery, consistent product quality and efficient production processes. The León facility will provide a local base for technical expertise and customer assistance, helping companies operating in Mexico access support for their equipment.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by VMI Group President and CEO Harm Voortman, along with regional and local government representatives, customers and members of the company’s Mexican team. The opening reflects the importance of maintaining a strong local service network as manufacturers expand their production capabilities and demand more responsive technical support.

The facility also includes training and technical support spaces, enabling VMI to provide specialised guidance to customers from within Mexico. According to the company, the new location and its drum workshop are expected to support customers more efficiently through faster response times and improved service. A customer seminar held alongside the opening highlighted the company’s tyre-building and tyre-component preparation solutions.

The inauguration also highlighted VMI’s sustainability priorities. The company recently received an EcoVadis Platinum Medal, a distinction that places it among the top 1% of companies assessed by the sustainability ratings organisation. VMI stated that the León facility incorporates sustainability considerations, including waste management and energy use

The new Mexican facility adds to VMI’s international service network and follows the opening of a sales and support office in Yokohama, Japan. By investing in regional service infrastructure, the company aims to strengthen customer relationships and provide more accessible technical assistance across key manufacturing markets.
