Rubber prices in Kerala hit record high, domestic rates top global market

Kottayam: Domestic rubber prices touched a record high of ₹284.50 per kg, driven by strong demand from tyre manufacturers and other industrial buyers amid a supply shortage.

RSS-4 grade rubber was quoted at 284.50 per kg in the Kottayam and Kochi markets, surpassing the previous record of ₹284 per kg set on August 1. The earlier record price remained unchanged for four days.

The latest increase has pushed domestic prices above international market rates, with strong demand from Indian tyre manufacturers and other industries supporting the rally.

Domestic rubber prices generally move in line with international rates. However, robust local demand and limited supply have driven prices above global levels.

In the international market, RSS-4 grade rubber prices rose to ₹282.16 per kg, remaining 2.34 below the domestic rate.
