has announced that its Jiaxing manufacturing facility in Zhejiang Province, China, has received the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification, strengthening the company’s global sustainable manufacturing network.
The ISCC PLUS certification is an internationally recognised system that verifies the sustainability of bio-based and recycled raw materials while ensuring transparency across the supply chain. The certification evaluates the complete production process, including raw material sourcing, manufacturing operations, and final product management.
The Jiaxing plant becomes the fourth Hankook Tire production facility to achieve ISCC PLUS certification following the company’s Geumsan plant in South Korea, its Hungary facility, and the Daejeon plant. With the addition of the China plant, the company has further expanded its certified sustainable production network across Asia and Europe.
According to the company, the Jiaxing facility has enhanced its sustainable manufacturing capabilities by increasing the use of bio-based and recycled materials and optimising production processes. The plant also operates a quality management system based on the mass balance approach to support stable production of products containing sustainable raw materials.
Hankook Tire stated that the certification supports its broader circular economy strategy, known as “E.Circle,” which focuses on increasing the use of sustainable and low-carbon materials in tire manufacturing. The company has already expanded the use of sustainable materials in its electric vehicle tire portfolio and motorsports products, including tires supplied for the FIA Formula E World Championship and the FIA World Rally Championship.
The company added that it will continue advancing sustainable production systems across its global facilities while strengthening its environmentally responsible supply chain in line with international ESG standards.
