Continental Sells Australian mycar Tyre & Auto Business to Tuhu

The A$403 million deal covers around 280 stores and more than 1,600 employees, while mycar will continue distributing Continental tyres in Australia.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Continental has agreed to sell its Australian subsidiary mycar Tyre & Auto to Chinese automotive service platform Tuhu in a transaction valued at approximately A$403 million (about €250 million). The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals.

The transaction covers mycar’s network of around 280 stores across Australia and more than 1,600 employees. The company provides a range of automotive services, including tyre fitting, scheduled vehicle maintenance, brake and suspension work, battery replacement and general mechanical repairs.

Continental acquired mycar Tyre & Auto in 2018 as part of its strategy to expand its distribution network and strengthen its presence in the Australian tyre market. Since then, mycar has expanded its store network and product offering while developing its position in the country’s automotive service sector.

Following completion of the transaction, mycar will remain a distribution partner for Continental tyres in Australia. Continental said it will continue to serve the Australian market through its own sales organisation and the mycar network, maintaining continuity for customers.

The acquisition expands Tuhu’s international footprint beyond its established Chinese automotive service operations. As of June 30, 2026, Tuhu’s network comprised 8,825 workshops, while the company had approximately 31 million transacting users during the preceding 12 months.

Tuhu’s business model combines online and offline automotive services, covering tyre and chassis-component replacement, vehicle maintenance and repair, detailing and other vehicle-related services. The company plans to build on mycar’s existing Australian operations using its experience in automotive service networks.

The transaction is part of Continental’s wider strategic realignment around its tyre business. The company has been reshaping its portfolio and has stated that its strategic focus is increasingly centred on developing and manufacturing tyres.

For the Australian tyre and automotive service market, the transaction will bring mycar under new ownership while maintaining its existing relationship with Continental. The continued distribution agreement means Continental tyres will remain available through mycar’s retail network after the ownership change.

The deal therefore combines Tuhu’s automotive-service expertise with mycar’s established Australian retail network, while allowing Continental to maintain an important distribution channel for its tyre products in the country.
