SPC Europe is strengthening its manufacturing footprint and compounding capabilities to meet growing demand for specialised rubber compounds across automotive, industrial and other end-use sectors.
SPC Europe is expanding its European rubber compounding capabilities, strengthening its manufacturing network to meet demand for high-performance elastomer compounds across a range of industrial applications. The UK-based compounder has continued to invest in production infrastructure and processing capabilities across its European operations.
SPC’s manufacturing network covers multiple European locations and a broad portfolio of elastomers, including EPDM, NBR, NR, SBR, ACM, HNBR, CR, silicone and other specialty rubber materials. Its compounds serve markets such as automotive, construction, industrial products, sealing applications and other technically demanding sectors.
The company’s expansion strategy includes investments in mixing, automated material handling and calendering capabilities. In 2025, SPC completed a £500,000 investment in a new calendering line at its Maerdy facility in Wales, expanding its ability to manufacture rubber products for the UK market. The company has also previously invested £1.2 million in automated chemical weighing systems.
SPC has also strengthened its European manufacturing platform through the development of Camac Compounding in Portugal, established to supply high-volume rubber compounds for applications including tyre retreading and conveyor belts. The operation is leveraging SPC’s expertise in rubber mixing, recycled materials and advanced formulation technologies.
The broader European network gives SPC greater flexibility to manufacture different compound formulations closer to customers. Its operations include facilities in the UK, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Poland and Portugal, covering both conventional and specialty elastomers.
For the rubber industry, increased compounding capacity is particularly important as manufacturers seek customised formulations with specific properties such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, durability and flexibility. Demand for specialised elastomers is being driven by applications across mobility, industrial equipment, sealing systems and other advanced manufacturing sectors.
SPC’s investments also reflect the broader trend toward higher-value rubber compounding and localised production in Europe. By combining advanced mixing, calendering, automation and formulation capabilities, compounders can provide customers with more customised materials while improving production efficiency.
The continued expansion strengthens SPC Europe’s position as an established custom rubber compounder, while its growing European footprint provides additional capacity and technical capabilities to support customers across the continent.
