Tolins Tyres’ Subsidiary Begins Construction of Reclaimed Rubber Plant in Palakkad

Terra Rubber’s new facility will support backward integration, recycle rubber waste and reduce dependence on volatile external raw-material supplies.

Tolins Tyres’ wholly owned subsidiary Terra Rubber has commenced construction of a reclaimed rubber manufacturing facility in Palakkad, Kerala, strengthening the company’s backward integration and rubber recycling capabilities.

Tolins Tyres’ wholly owned subsidiary, Terra Rubber Private Limited, has commenced construction of a new reclaimed rubber manufacturing facility in Palakkad, Kerala. The project is part of the Tolins Group’s strategy to strengthen its presence across the rubber value chain, improve raw-material efficiency and support circular manufacturing.

The development follows an asset purchase agreement signed by Terra Rubber on July 1, 2026, to acquire plant and machinery from Cochin Reclaim and Rubbers Private Limited. The investment is expected to support the company’s entry into reclaimed rubber manufacturing while improving control over its raw-material requirements.

The new facility will process production scrap and other rubber waste through controlled recycling and devulcanisation processes to produce reclaimed rubber. The recovered material can be used in suitable rubber compounds, helping reduce dependence on virgin rubber and external raw-material supplies, depending on product specifications.

The project also supports Tolins Tyres’ broader focus on backward integration and cost efficiency. By establishing captive reclaimed rubber production, the company aims to improve raw-material availability and reduce exposure to fluctuations in rubber prices.

The facility could also provide an opportunity for Terra Rubber to participate in India’s waste-tyre Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, subject to applicable registrations, certifications and regulatory requirements.

With the Palakkad project, Tolins Tyres is expanding beyond tyre manufacturing into rubber recycling and value-added raw materials. The initiative reflects the growing importance of circular manufacturing and resource efficiency within India’s tyre and rubber industry.
