The new F0749 specification combines a revised tyre structure with the standard SC1 soft compound to improve stability, particularly during braking.
Pirelli will introduce a new soft front tyre for Moto2 riders at the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix in Misano. The F0749 development specification continues the tyre manufacturer’s ongoing front-tyre development programme, which began at the Aragón Grand Prix with the E1089 soft compound.
Unlike the E1089, which retained the structure of the standard SC1 tyre while using a new compound, the F0749 combines a new structure with the existing SC1 soft compound. Pirelli said the revised construction is intended to provide greater stability, especially under braking.
The new specification is part of Pirelli’s broader effort to evaluate different front-tyre solutions under race conditions. The comparison between the E1089 and F0749 allows the manufacturer to assess how changes in construction and compound affect rider feedback, stability and performance.
Pirelli will also offer two softer rear development tyres at Misano. These include the supersoft E0126, now the standard SCX, and the soft E0125, which has become the standard SC0. Both solutions were previously used at the same event the year before.
The E0126 was unanimously selected by Moto2 riders for both qualifying and the race during its earlier appearance, providing useful feedback for Pirelli’s continuing development work.
The Misano event will therefore provide another opportunity for riders and engineers to evaluate tyre behaviour across different specifications. The findings could contribute to future development decisions as Pirelli continues refining its Moto2 racing products.
The introduction of the F0749 highlights the importance of tyre construction in motorcycle racing, where braking stability, rider confidence and consistent performance are critical to competitive results.
