Pirelli to Launch Cyber™ Tyre Production in Georgia, Strengthening U.S. Market Presence

Pirelli is reinforcing its long-term commitment to the United States by expanding its advanced manufacturing and innovation capabilities at its Rome, Georgia plant.

The company has announced that the facility will begin producing connected tyres equipped with Cyber™ Tyre technology, further strengthening Pirelli’s industrial and technological footprint in one of its most strategic global markets.

The Rome plant already manufactures high-value and motorsport tyres for the North American market. With the addition of Cyber™ Tyre production, the facility will play an even greater role in supporting Pirelli’s global growth strategy and advancing smart mobility solutions in the U.S.

The announcement was made during the SelectUSA Investment Summit, organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, where Pirelli showcased Cyber™ Tyre as a key innovation for the future of connected mobility. The technology is the world’s first integrated hardware-and-software tyre system capable of collecting and processing data through sensors embedded inside the tyre. By communicating in real time with a vehicle’s electronic systems, the technology enhances driving performance, safety, and connectivity with smart infrastructure.

As demand for digital and intelligent mobility solutions continues to rise in the United States, Pirelli sees Cyber™ Tyre as a major competitive advantage in the premium tyre market.

Speaking about the development, Claudio Zanardo, CEO of Pirelli North America, said that the start of Cyber™ Tyre production in Georgia marks an important milestone for the company and reflects its commitment to bringing advanced technologies closer to the U.S. market while strengthening its innovation capabilities in the country.

Pirelli is also introducing the latest version of its MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System) production process at the Rome facility. The advanced robotic manufacturing system, exclusive to the Georgia plant within the Pirelli Group, is designed to improve productivity, flexibility, and product quality through a highly digitalized production environment.

The Rome plant also houses a dedicated research and development center, reinforcing its role in technological innovation and premium tyre production for North America. In line with its sustainability goals, the facility uses FSC®-certified natural rubber, highlighting Pirelli’s commitment to responsible sourcing and environmental stewardship across its supply chain.
