Brave Industries, a recycling network established by Direct Polymers to address transportation and logistics challenges in the plastics recycling sector, has launched a new mobile shredding division aimed at improving the efficiency and economics of plastic waste recovery.
The newly introduced service uses mobile shredding equipment that can be deployed directly at customer sites, allowing bulky and difficult-to-transport plastic materials to be processed before shipment. By reducing the volume of waste on-site, the initiative is designed to lower freight costs, improve transportation efficiency, and reduce the environmental impact associated with moving large volumes of plastic waste.
According to Brave Industries, the mobile shredding programme is already operational and currently processing around 200,000 pounds of plastic waste per shift. The company said the system is particularly suited for handling oversized or complex plastic materials such as long plastic pipes, industrial scrap, rigid plastics, and other bulky materials that are costly and inefficient to transport in their original form.
Adam Hill, CEO of Direct Polymers, stated that the mobile division allows the company to provide on-site recycling support for customers dealing with large-volume plastic waste streams and hard-to-handle materials. He explained that bringing shredding operations directly to the source helps maximize truckload capacity while making recycling operations more economically viable.
The launch forms part of Brave Industries’ broader strategy to build a decentralized plastics recycling network using distributed processing resources. Instead of relying entirely on centralized recycling facilities, the company aims to create localized processing systems that can reduce transportation distances, operational costs, and logistical barriers that have historically limited recycling rates in the plastics industry.
Industry experts have long identified transportation costs as one of the key obstacles to improving plastic recycling efficiency, particularly for lightweight but bulky materials that occupy large shipping volumes. Mobile processing solutions are increasingly being viewed as a practical way to strengthen circular economy systems while lowering carbon emissions associated with waste transport.
By introducing mobile shredding technology, Brave Industries is positioning itself to support more flexible and scalable recycling operations, especially for industrial and commercial plastic waste generators seeking cost-effective sustainability solutions.
The initiative also reflects a growing trend within the recycling industry toward localized material recovery systems that can improve supply chain resilience, reduce landfill dependency, and support the production of recycled raw materials for future manufacturing applications.
