HEXPOL Acquires Vipa Group to Strengthen Wire & Cable Compounds Business

HEXPOL Acquires Italian Wire & Cable Compounder Vipa Group

Swedish polymer solutions company HEXPOL has acquired 100% of Italian thermoplastic compounder Vipa Group, strengthening its position in the fast-growing Wire & Cable segment and expanding its geographical presence in Europe.

Headquartered in Ancarano, Italy, Vipa Group develops and manufactures high-quality thermoplastic compounds, with a strong focus on applications for the Wire & Cable industry. The acquisition brings Vipa’s product expertise and customer base into HEXPOL’s Thermoplastic Compounding business.

Founded by the Paolini family in 1969, Vipa has grown into a specialty compounder with above-market profitability. The family will support the transition to HEXPOL ownership for 18 months, while current CEO Nicola Vigolo will continue to lead the business as a subsidiary within the HEXPOL Group.

Vipa operates two production facilities and an R&D centre in Italy. In 2025, the company generated revenue of €76.4 million, employed around 80 people and had additional capacity available within its existing manufacturing footprint.

The acquisition will expand HEXPOL’s exposure to several long-term growth markets, including electrification, data centres, telecommunications and smart buildings.

“The acquisition of Vipa Group marks an important step in executing the growth strategy for the new business area Thermoplastic Compounding,” said Peter Rosén, acting CEO and CFO of HEXPOL. He added that Vipa’s strong position in Wire & Cable and material expertise provide exposure to structural growth trends such as electrification and data centres.

The transaction includes the entire Vipa Group, comprising Vi.pa S.r.l. and Vi.pa Polimeri S.r.l.

Stefano Paolini, Chairman of the Board and member of Vipa’s founding family, said the family was pleased to have found an industrial owner committed to continuing operations in the region while further investing in the business and its sustainable development.

The acquisition follows HEXPOL’s announcement at its Capital Markets Day in November 2025, where the company identified Thermoplastic Compounding as a key growth platform and outlined plans to build a leading thermoplastics business through both organic growth and acquisitions.
