CurTec Expands South Carolina Packaging Operations With $10 Million Investment

The expansion will increase production and storage capacity for plastic drums and pails while creating 10 new jobs in Oconee County.

CurTec USA is expanding its manufacturing operations in Oconee County, South Carolina, with a $10 million investment aimed at increasing production and storage capacity for high-performance plastic packaging. The project is expected to create 10 new jobs and strengthen the company’s ability to serve pharmaceutical and other North American customers.

The company will expand its existing warehouse and production lines at its facility on Oconee Business Parkway in Westminster. The additional infrastructure will increase CurTec’s capacity to manufacture and store plastic drums and pails designed for pharmaceutical markets. The expanded operations are expected to become operational in summer 2027.

Founded in 1991, CurTec manufactures plastic drums, pails and jars used to safely handle and contain materials for industries including life sciences and fine chemicals. The company operates production facilities in the United States and the Netherlands and has a commercial presence across North America, Europe and Asia.

The South Carolina investment builds on CurTec’s decision to establish its Westminster manufacturing facility in 2023. The company has been increasing local production to bring its manufacturing operations closer to customers in North America and strengthen supply reliability.

CurTec CEO Bart van Berkel said the latest expansion represents the next stage of the company’s growth strategy in the United States. Increasing local production, capacity and inventory will allow the company to broaden the range of products manufactured domestically while continuing to expand its South Carolina operations.

The investment also comes as demand for specialized packaging continues to grow in industries requiring secure and reliable containers for sensitive materials. By increasing manufacturing capacity in the United States, CurTec aims to improve its ability to supply pharmaceutical customers and respond to market demand from its North American customer base.

South Carolina officials welcomed the expansion, noting its contribution to the state’s manufacturing workforce and growing life sciences sector. The project is also expected to strengthen Oconee County’s position as a location for advanced manufacturing investment.

The expansion reflects CurTec’s continued commitment to its U.S. manufacturing footprint only three years after opening the Westminster facility. Once the new production and warehouse capacity becomes operational in 2027, the company will have additional capabilities to manufacture and store plastic packaging products closer to its North American customers.
