Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan has urged the plastics industry to adopt advanced technologies for the production of sustainable and environmentally responsible products.
The minister was speaking at PLASTINDIA 2026, being held from February 5 to 10, 2026. During the event, Paswan released the Plastic Industry Status 2025 and presented awards to winners of the Startup Search Initiative, an initiative of the Plastindia Foundation developed in collaboration with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), an official statement said.
Addressing industry representatives, Paswan highlighted the importance of reducing waste and using technology to promote sustainability, in line with the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat. He commended the plastics sector for its collective efforts toward sustainable manufacturing while contributing to national development and self-reliance, and stressed that product quality should not be compromised.
Organised by the Plastindia Foundation, PLASTINDIA 2026 has brought together industry leaders, global buyers, innovators, and policymakers from India and overseas, showcasing India’s expanding role in the global plastics value chain.
Ravish Kamath, President of the Plastindia Foundation, said the report provides valuable insights into the sector’s growth, export performance, and transition towards sustainability.
