Continental AG has expanded its footprint in India’s fast-growing automotive market with the launch of its PremiumContact 6 performance tyres and ContiSeal puncture-prevention technology.
The company unveiled these innovations at the Wabco Proving Ground, highlighting advancements across both passenger and commercial vehicle segments.
The PremiumContact 6 tyres, designed for India’s premium vehicle category, incorporate advanced features such as Macroblock technology for enhanced cornering stability and silica-based compounds that improve grip in both wet and dry conditions. An asymmetric tread pattern further helps minimize deformation, contributing to better handling and durability. The tyres will be available in 17- to 20-inch rim sizes through Continental’s dealer network across India.
A key highlight of the launch is ContiSeal technology, which is engineered to automatically seal up to 85% of punctures caused by objects up to 5 mm in diameter. This is achieved through a viscous sealant layer inside the tyre, reducing the need for immediate roadside repairs and eliminating reliance on spare wheels—an advantage on India’s diverse road surfaces.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Continental Tires India introduced new tyre offerings, including 295/90 R20 variants with five tread patterns suited for hybrid and regional applications, as well as 235/75 R17.5 tyres developed for light commercial vehicles.
While pricing details were not disclosed, Samir Gupta, Head of Central Region – BA Tires APAC and Managing Director of Continental Tires India, emphasized that the launch aligns with the company’s “In the Market, For the Market” strategy. He noted that these products are tailored to address the unique challenges of Indian roads, with a focus on safety, comfort, and performance, while enhancing overall driving confidence and customer value.
