The Rubber Group (TRG) has acquired precision plastics manufacturer Diversified Plastics Inc (DPI), marking a strategic move to strengthen its high-performance materials portfolio.
The partnership is expected to create a more comprehensive manufacturing platform by combining complementary capabilities across rubber, plastics, and urethane solutions. With this integration, customers from both companies will gain access to a wider range of engineered products from a single, trusted source.
“The combination is about growth. We are bringing together complementary capabilities to better serve customers,” said Rob Pruyn, President of The Rubber Group. “By combining rubber, plastics, and urethane capabilities, we can offer a broader range of engineered solutions to both customer bases, and the cross-selling opportunity is significant.”
Brad Reid of DPI emphasized the long-term vision behind the move, noting that the company carefully considered its future direction after five decades in operation. “After 50 years of building Diversified Plastics, we were deliberate about what the next chapter would look like. Combining our expertise with The Rubber Group makes perfect sense, as it positions DPI to continue and even enhance our service to customers for another 50 years. We are aligned in how we treat our people, how we serve our customers, and how we collaborate,” he said.
Following the acquisition, DPI will operate under the name Diversified Plastics Industrial Solutions. The company will continue its operations from its Missoula, Montana facility, maintaining its existing leadership team, workforce, manufacturing capabilities, and customer relationships.
DPI brings strong expertise in injection-moulded plastics, including proprietary UHMW-PE, thermoforming, CNC machining, urethane casting, in-house tooling and design engineering, and MultiFab Hybrid Component capabilities.
With existing facilities in New Hampshire and Chicago, the addition of the Montana site further expands TRG’s geographic footprint. At the same time, DPI will benefit from access to a broader materials platform, enhanced resources, and increased commercial opportunities, positioning both companies for sustained growth.
