APR and ANIPAC Join Forces to Strengthen Plastics Recycling in Mexico

Collaboration aims to strengthen recyclability standards, promote recycled content usage, and accelerate circular economy initiatives across Mexico’s plastics industry

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and Mexico’s National Association of Plastics Industries (ANIPAC) have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance plastics recycling and advance circular economy practices in Mexico. Announced during Plastics Recycling LATAM 2026, the agreement seeks to improve collaboration across the plastics value chain while promoting sustainable materials management and internationally recognized recycling standards.

As part of the partnership, APR will provide technical expertise, design-for-recycling guidance, and training resources to help manufacturers and recyclers improve the recyclability of plastic products and packaging. The organization will also support efforts to increase the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, helping to strengthen demand for recycled plastics and encourage greater material recovery.

ANIPAC, which represents a broad range of stakeholders within Mexico’s plastics industry, including resin producers, converters, recyclers, distributors, and machinery suppliers, will work to promote the adoption of global best practices and recycling standards among its members. The initiative is expected to enhance the industry’s sustainability performance while aligning it more closely with international circular economy goals.

The collaboration will also facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge, regulatory insights, and market information, enabling both organizations to develop joint projects and educational initiatives that support the growth of recycling infrastructure and capabilities in the region.

Industry leaders from both organizations emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing recycling challenges and creating a more sustainable plastics ecosystem. By combining expertise and resources, APR and ANIPAC aim to strengthen Mexico’s recycling sector, increase the value and utilization of recycled materials, and contribute to long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
